A number of infrastructure development projects have been approved by Chinese government under China Pakistan Economic Corridor. These projects will help in better communication and trade from China to Gwadar.
The plan for the widening of 440km of highway from Raikot to Islamabad is to be implemented by National Highway Authority and will be supervised by Ministry of Communications. 1305 million USD is the approximated cost for this project.
392 km Peshawar to Karachi motorway is to be constructed under the CPEC infrastructure improvement project category. 2846 million USD is the estimated cost of projecct and its major part is in Punjab and Sindh. Work is in progress on this highway and is to be completed by the end of this year or the start of next one.
The procedure formalities are not yet completed on Khuzdar-Bisma 110km road. The same is the case on the upgradation of DI Khan-Zhob 210km of road. Another Thaikot-Raikot remaining 136km portion is also under discussion but not yet approved.
Three major projects of railways are also under construction or already submitted to Chinese for approval. These projects include expansion and reconstruction of existing ML-1 line, Havelian Dry Port and capacity development of Pakistan Railways.
Development of these projects are very important for successful China Pakistan Economic Corridor. That’s why China and Pakistani governments along with Pak Army are trying their every best to make these projects completed in time.
