Construction of New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA) to start by September 2017
The official sources told that during Prime Minister’s recent visit to China, Government of China has agreed to approve funds for the New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA). The development work on the airport is accelerated and its construction will start after the approval within next three months. The completion of the project will take the time span of two to three years and will cost Rs. 23 billion or 23 million dollars.
CPEC will convert Gwadar into a central economic hub of the region, that’s why this project is of core importance. NGIA is the part of China Pakistan Economic Corridor short term plan and the Pakistani government has directed Civil Aviation Authority for the early completion of development work. CAA already has acquired 4300 acres of land in the 26 km north east of existing airport in Gurandani.
This new airport with its allied facilities will have enough ability to handle a combination of ATR 72, Airbus A-300, Boeing B-737 and Boeing B-747 for both domestic and international routes. It will facilitate the movement of national and international investors and visitors. This also will help to create new job opportunities for the local people.
